Lisa Wood, a artist from San Francisco, creates these insect dioramas with REAL insects repositioned in whimsical positions that she describes as,
fantastical anthropomorphic depictions of insects in domestic, story book recreations: climbing ladders, reading books, holding tea parties and socializing in their secret, everyday lives hidden from prying human eyes.
Her work is the absolute fantasy present for an etymologist who also happens to be a miniature hobbyist. It could also be the fantasy gift for people who are absolutely afraid of insects and would feel so much better seeing them in a relatable setting. I definitely would have purchased one for my father who was deathly scared of caterpillars (even though one of his favorite past times includes scuba diving and feeding sharks). In other words- this is the perfect gift for anyone.
I’m loving these pieces. What are your thoughts?
