Art I Love: Herbert Vogel 1922-2012

Herbert “Herb” Vogel, along with his wife Dorothy, are very well known among the New York art scene. He worked as a postal worker and his wife as a librarian. Yet, even with their humble salaries they were able to accumulate one of the most impressive collections of Minimalist art that is now worth millions of dollars. They lived in a one-bedroom apartment on New York’s Upper East Side that was crammed from the ceiling to the floor with artwork. Yet, they never imagined selling or parting with their pieces in order to buy a larger home. In celebration of his life, I’ve posted a link to a trailer for the award-winning documentary, “Herb and Dororthy.”
